The students of 1A fit together! During the first week of school, the students completed a puzzle piece of information about themselves, so that we could all learn more about each other.
During the first week of school we read David Goes to School. After learning about our school and classroom rules, the students taught David all about school rules!
In order to build our classroom community, the students linked themselves together in a friendship chain. We also discussed what it means to be a good friend.
We have been learning how to write 5 star sentences. The students assembled a "Mr. Sentence Man" to remember the components of a 5 star sentence!
Last week, students in 1A became synonym chefs. We thought of synonyms for words we use every day and now we will use those words to expand our vocabulary and better our writing!

There is no room in our "school" for bullying! This was our door entry in the anti-bullying door decorating contest last week. Although we didn't win, we had great discussion in 1A about being kind & respectful rather than using hurtful words or making fun of others!
